Our Preferred Funds

DFA was formed in 1981 to apply cutting-edge academic research to the practical world of investing. DFA’s founders and board members include financial economists from some of the world’s leading universities and two Nobel laureates.  The firm encourages productive research by offering academics a share of profits from investment strategies derived from their ideas. DFA offers over 50 passively managed index-like portfolios with precise asset class characteristics.

DFA’s major investors are institutions such as pension and endowment funds. The public cannot access DFA funds except through a select group of qualified investment advisors, including Cardiff Park. The fact that access to DFA is restricted allows for certain advantages. For example, DFA's large average account size minimizes expenses.  Further, this restricted market spares investors the cost of marketing and advertising expenses. Additionally, the fact that institutions are more disciplined long-term investors, when compared to individuals, allows institutional funds to minimize trading costs and to remain  fully invested.

As a Registered Investment Advisor with DFA, Cardiff Park receives access to top researchers who are developing innovative theories and analyses, and can pass on that knowledge to clients.

Cardiff Park receives no compensation of any kind from DFA. We chose the firm because it offers a complete selection of low cost, tax-efficient passively structured portfolios covering all asset classes.
